Here's a fertile 3/4 bison X 1/4 Maine-Anjou cross bull. This bull is typical of the 3/4 bulls used on domestic cows to create 3/8th Beefalo.

Christina Della Valle was kind enough to send us a picture of the first Bold Venture calf born in Australia. She also has an outstanding website. www.beefaloaustralia.com

Bison Blend Cattle perform well under harsh range conditions. These Beefalo in Australia are in good flesh despite the rough looking pasture in the background.

Bison Blend Cattle can take the heat. This Beefalo bull was one of several shipped from Montana to Brazil to improve native stock. Bison Blend cattle not only inherit a thicker hair coat from the Bison but also their larger sweat glands. This makes them an ideal cross on Brahma or Zebu stock.

Bison Blend Cattle have been established for some time. This is HB-17, one of the Foundation bulls of the Beefalo Breed, bred over 35 years ago by DC "Bud" Basolo.

Curious. Regular cattle a lot of times will ignore you working in a pasture. Bison blend cattle, like this half bison-half Hereford cow want to find out what's going on and see what you're up to.

A good group of Beefalo Cattle on good pasture in Nebraska. Look at the quality and frame size on these calves.

It gets cold up in the bush in North Central Manitoba. The Late Bill Lenton said his hybrids had better cold tolerance than his straight Buffalo. Lenton's hybrids pictured above seem to be enjoying the sunny winter day, even though it's below zero.

A 1/4 Bison-Galloway Cow. Old timers like the Miller Brothers, SL Bedson or Buffalo Jones believed this cross between the bison and the hardy Scottish Galloway made the ideal range animal. This cow makes her home on the range in South Dakota.

A polled (hornless) Bison? Nope. It's just Burley, a 3/4 bison-1/4 Hereford bull, chowing down on some groceries. When he was tested under the old bison marker test for bison heritage he didn't show a bison marker! Checked against the new 19 marker test he showed three. This is the kind of animal that keeps DNA researchers up at night wondering how closely bison and domestic cattle are related.
